Senior year is full of emotions! And let's face it, there is no instruction manual for these things. So I am going to help take some of the confusion out of at least the Senior Portrait part. Senior Portraits are an investment that will stay in your family a very long time and an investment you should carefully consider rather than think about as an afterthought.  

Here are some of the frequently asked questions that pop up about Senior Portraits and the answers to them.  

Every photographer prices their services and products differently and they range from $$ to $$$$$.

Our Senior Sessions are as individual as your Senior. With three levels of customized sessions specifically for High School Seniors, Courtney will capture the true personality and talents of your child's final year at home.

The Simple is an in studio session for $95.

The Beauty is a session that can either be in and around the downtown studio OR on location for $195.

and The Forever is two sessions, one in studio and one on location for $395.

After the session fee, you are able to fully customize your own collection of products. You do this by choosing two or more products to build the package that best suits your family's needs. These can be a combination of Wall Portraits, Albums, gift prints(5x7s and 8x10s) and digital images. For starting prices, please visit my pricing page. 

At Courtney Mitchell Photography, you will be receiving the best service from the beginning of your in person consultation through your session to the delivery of your products.  

Do they have experience and are they really a professional photographer? 

• You need to make sure that your photographer knows what they are doing so that they can capture the best images of you.  Are the photographers you are choosing from educated in their field or did they just get a camera for their birthday?  You probably wouldn't let someone cut your hair just because they have a nice pair of scissors? A camera is only as good as the photographer behind it.
• Courtney Mitchell is a Certified Professional Photographer through Professional Photographers of America and has over 10 years of experience. She is an international award winning photographer who consistently attends photography classes and workshops to further her knowledge and stay on the cutting edge of her craft.

Do all of their pictures look the same? Are all of the Seniors in the exact same locations, in the same poses or wearing the same hat?

• Your Senior Portraits should be custom tailored to you, your style and your clothes.  Courtney strives to combine your personality into a classic style portraiture while also being able to use specialty lighting techniques when called for to accentuate the seniors personality and creativity.

Do they only have certain locations they shoot or will they customize a session for you?

• Every session is customized down to the location. When determining locations, we work with Seniors to determine the best spot for their Senior Portraits.  At the consultation we will go over their hobbies and interests and talk about where they hang out and spend most of their time.  By doing this, Courtney is able to find unique locations or angles to cover. This way your senior portraits will be unique to you.  

The absolute best time is the Summer before your Senior Year but absolutely before the Spring of your Senior Year! Everyone says it because it is true, Senior Year will fly by!  The great thing about scheduling early is that you guarantee a spot with Courtney Mitchell Photography.  If you wait until Spring, chances are we will be booked like we were last year.
